Our thoughts can be intrusive and misleading if we aren’t consistently paying attention to what is going on in our minds. When we are met with adversity, uncomfortable situations, or stress, negativity is easy to creep in.

It’s essential to be aware of and practice motivational phrases to keep our minds prepared to run efficiently. We function much better with a healthy and active mindset. 

Likewise, building the habit of using motivational words when seeking productivity or completing a task can help make the difference between setback or success.

It’s no secret: if you begin your day with a mantra you believe or hope to think, it will help guide you towards your goals.

  1. I am stronger than my fear

“The past is in your head. Your future is in your hands.” Sometimes we let past failures control our emotions making it more difficult for us to succeed. We worry over things of the past or about situations that may or may not arise; in psychology, they call this jumping to conclusions or fortune-telling.

Learn to focus on your strengths, what is in your control, and leave the past mistakes. Life gives us lessons for hope, not an absolute failure. 

2. Who is the person that I want to be?

Additionally, is there a vision of the person you see yourself being in the next year? 5 or 10? “Who is the person that I want to be?” is a question you should always ask yourself as you wake, throughout the day, and before bed.

There is a reason for you being in this world, find what you value, and lead a life that aligns with those values. 

3. Small actions lead to significant changes.

When we only focus on the end result, we can miss what it takes to get there. The in-between starting and finishing is the most critical part of making change.

Despite many advertisements, there are no short cuts in achieving success. You have to remind yourself to be consistent and focus on small tasks to get results.

4. I am willing to get out of my comfort zone.

If you are not willing to get out of your comfort zone and take action, you will remain where you are. It’s simple as that. Going for the uncomfortable is scary and leads to vulnerability.

However, there is no forward progress without facing these emotions. Only when you are eager to move out of your comfort zone, you can move toward success.

5. I can become what I want to become.

Read that again. I can become what I want to become. Now there are three times you’ve said that today. We all face barriers and adversity that may appear impossible to get by. Some of these barriers may be financial or health limitations.

Write it out: What is it that you need to be who you want to be despite these limitations? You are the only person who can stop you from becoming what you want to be.

6. I will never not give up.

Moreover, never is an absolute and can lead to high expectations for yourself. Setbacks are common. If you find yourself down, learn to accept failure as apart of the journey and find the solution you need to get up. Create your success, and don’t quit.

7. I can be courageous.

Taking the step to work for yourself, personally develop, and simply improve takes courage. It is unconventional and against the grain when society is built for us to work for other people.

Remind yourself that courage doesn’t just happen; you have to create it in your mind. You have to cultivate courage. 

8. I will face defeat without giving up.

Failure is a part of the journey as success is—two sides of the same coin. Failure doesn’t mean that you are not good enough. Likewise, it doesn’t mean that you will never get better.

Defeat is a mindset, a pattern of thoughts related to failure and adversity. Learn to face this thinking with ferocity and know that with each loss, you become smarter. You are stronger. 

9. I can develop focus.

Even with a strong desire to succeed, we can lose focus with disorganization. Be intentional about accomplishing your goals to maintain focus when distractions arise. Consistency is key. Practice reminding yourself of the things you need to complete to push yourself through. 

10. I have what it takes to make it

The definition of “make it” varies for each person and may need self-reflection to truly understand what it means for you. Success is a mindset based on your values, traits, and the goals you want to achieve.

It is not linked to a specific title, financial bracket, or the number of people who know who you are. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t make it because it’s a state of mind. Your mind. 

11. I am disciplined and consistent.

Develop the habit of being disciplined and be consistent in it. Remind yourself of this daily and create a routine that makes this reality. Start a journal, use a calendar, to-do list, or set a timer to complete the tasks you need to do.

12. I am an achiever

Look in the mirror; what does it mean to be an achiever? What does this mean to you? Those that are working to improve themselves and not remain stagnant are achieving. If this is you, remind yourself you are on your way. One task at a time. One day at a time.

13. I am proud of myself

Be proud of who you are. Start a gratitude list or journal to notice all the right things around you. Learn about your best traits and use them to your advantage. Dump the negative mindset and comparisons to other people. Develop new skills to feel more confident and reach your goals.

14. I will succeed. No matter what.

There is realism in negative thinking. However, negative thoughts only produce more negativity and closed minds. Flood your mind with solutions, interventions, support, and positivity as you focus on your goals.

Furthermore, remove the enablers, the negative people around you, and concentrate on how you will get where you want to.
